oh wow. ::glances over at the sink full of dishes::

do i get up and do some dishes or keep scrolling through tumblr?

apparently so.

when i’m insecure and you say something stupid… all i want is for you to pull me close to you, look me in the eyes and tell me that i mean the world to you and you love me no matter what and you’re sorry. that’s how every “i’m going to fix this” conversation needs to start. without that… i honestly sometimes can’t tell which way you’re steering the convo. it’s ok for you to say stupid things sometimes - i just need the reassurance that you love me and it came out wrong. don’t try to explain it and reword it first - you dig yourself into a much deeper hole first and i really don’t know if you’re mad at me for taking it the wrong way or if you’re trying to fix it….

Her innocence is not an act.
Its not a show for your amusement.
Its her heart shining through the person she’s had to become.

Protect and treasure it in her.

"High school, it seems, has changed. It has become competitive. Young men and women — 13 to 18 years old — must work more or less tirelessly to ensure their spot at a college deemed worthy to them and their families. So rather than living their adolescent lives — lives brimming with desires and vitality, with vim, vigor, and brewing lust — these kids are working at old age homes, cramming for tests, popping Adderall just to make the literal and proverbial grade. And for what? So they can go to a school that puts them in debt for the rest of their lives. School has become a great vehicle of capitalism: it quashes the revolution implicit in adolescence while simultaneously fomenting perpetual indebtedness."

"

A student blows up at a teacher, drops the F-bomb. The usual approach at Lincoln – and, safe to say, at most high schools in this country – is automatic suspension. Instead, Sporleder sits the kid down and says quietly: “Wow. Are you OK? This doesn’t sound like you. What’s going on?”

He gets even more specific: “You really looked stressed. On a scale of 1-10, where are you with your anger?” The kid was ready. Ready, man! For an anger blast to his face….”How could you do that?” “What’s wrong with you?”…and for the big boot out of school. But he was NOT ready for kindness.

The armor-plated defenses melt like ice under a blowtorch and the words pour out: “My dad’s an alcoholic. He’s promised me things my whole life and never keeps those promises.” The waterfall of words that go deep into his home life, which is no piece of breeze, end with this sentence: “I shouldn’t have blown up at the teacher.” Whoa.

Bam. Kids “misbehave” for actual, real, valid reasons. And have feelings.

For fuck’s sake, it takes the people in charge so long to figure shit like this out! Good for Lincoln High!

This needs to be the policy EVERYWHERE…

My visual and articulated expressions of the little side of me. Other thoughts may trickle in from time to time, as that's just who I am - a complex merging of an innocent little girl and an independent woman.

For the eyes of those over the age of 18 only. NSF work, vanillas, Catholics and close-minded folks.
